What do you do when you have to contend with a Haze situation, knowing full well the boys are expecting an exciting Children’s Day Carnival? You go ahead and plan as best as you can and pray really hard.
This year’s Carnival was themed after the Rugby World Cup. The boys had a wide variety of snacks and foodstuff to tickle their taste buds! Pizza, chicken nuggets, twister fries, nasi briyani, and for those with a sweet tooth, eclairs, cookies, candy floss and ice cream. The canteen was a hive of activity! So many varieties of food being sold, with the ringing of hand bells used to attract the hungry boys to the stalls.
After their “makan” session, it was time to burn it all off at the many games stalls! We had our very own Nerf obstacle course, target shooting and Wii games located indoors in both the Hall and Gymnasium. Designed by ruggers, we had our very own Rugby Ninja obstacle course where the boys had to run, jump, crawl and balance through various obstacles. The longest queue was for the “Gladiator” where we had boys playing it multiple times. Good way to let off PSLE stress! When you have game stalls, you must have prizes! With their redemption card in hand, a galore of prizes to win and redeem, awaited our eager boys at the Prize Redemption booth.
The smiles on the faces of every boy told us it was a successful carnival. We would like to thank all Parents and Support Groups for volunteering and donating towards the Carnival. These events would not be as successful without your contribution and kindness.

Last year, thanks to your generous support we raised $11,300 through the very successful “Feed Our Boys too” mini food and fun fair. This year’s theme for ‘Feed Our Boys’ is aligned to the SEA Games and is also in aid of the SAPTA Cares fund. SAPTA Cares fund is a fund under the care of St Andrew’s Parent-Teacher Association (SAPTA) to support the less privileged students in the Secondary School.
We would like to invite your family to help with the purchase of the food and prizes. Any amount would be gratefully received. Your support as a volunteer or sponsor will encourage your sons, their friends and their teachers. Thank you in advance!

Procedure for Payment for Parents Learning Festival 2015
After completing your online registration and receiving your Eventbrite e-tickets via email, please make payment as follows:
Payment by Cash or Cheque. All cheques are to be made payable to “St Andrew’s PTA”. Please write “Parents Learning Festival 2015” on the reverse of the cheque.
Please enclose your payment in an envelope listing the following details:
– Your name
– Your son’s name and class
– Your SAPTA Membership Number (if you are a member)
– Your Eventbrite Ticket Confirmation Number
Drop the envelope into the box labelled ‘Parents Learning Festival 2015’ in the SAJS General office latest by 5 March 2015 to secure your participation. Online registration will close on Thursday, March 5 at 5pm.
Please note there will be no refunds for no-shows.

Parents’ Learning Festival Committee
The Children’s Day Carnival photos are up!
Heartfelt words from Tan Yan Kit, one of the 3 SAPTA Committee Members responsible for organizing this year’s Children’s Day Carnival.
I was honoured and privileged to be able to work with a big group of dedicated, caring and devoted parents and committee members with one goal in mind – “To make this Carnival the most unforgettable the boys had ever experienced.” I was touched by the response from parents of all levels who volunteered and approach us to sponsor or adopt the food and games stalls.
I was overwhelmed by the response of all the parents and through the efforts of all involved, this year’s carnival had set a precedence for all future carnivals and I believe this day will be a special day in the calendar for our SAJS boys.
We have also taken this opportunity to remind our boys that in times of happiness and celebration, we do not forget the less fortunate. 50% of the proceeds collected will be used for our FAS students and this clearly demonstrated – “Empathy” one of the school’s core values.
Thank you for helping us raise almost $10,000 for our SAPTA Cares Fund.
This will go a long way in supporting SAJS boys from less privileged backgrounds throughout 2015.
Up & On!
This year, the SAPTA food and fun fair, will be held on Thursday, 2nd October, 2014 during school hours. Timed just after the PSLE examinations, the theme for this year’s carnival is SAINTS WORLD CUP!
Like 2013, this year’s carnival will once again be raising funds for SAPTA Cares, which was launched last year on Children’s Day. The funds raised in last year’s carnival is currently supporting FAS Boys in the Extend-A-Care Program. The Extend-A-Care Program managed by SAJS extends a helping hand to boys who are in dire need of after-school care due to their family circumstances.
This year our organizing committee is truly excited to create an unforgettable Children’s Day Celebration with the World Cup theme knowing that World Cup was just over and most of our boys are ardent soccer fans. We will have lots of games related to soccer and also exciting food stalls offering cuisines from countries that qualified for the 2014 World Cup.

This year, SAPTA, Church of Ascension and parents from the various PSGs came together to throw a Potluck & Karaoke Lunch Party for the Teachers of SAJS to celebrate Teacher’s Day.

Annual Parents Learning Festival 2014
Jointly organized by SAJS and SAPTA, this much awaited annual event features sessions for each level conducted by SAJS teachers, aiming to give parents insights and skills to support their sons in the various academic subjects taught in school.
